Morris County, NJ, Clay Pottery Classes

Studio Policy

We wish to keep the studio as clean as possible. You are responsible for cleaning your equipment and tools thoroughly after use and returning everything to its proper place. Your personal space (shelf) boards and plastic should be kept neatly as well. We ask that you do not leave boards and plastic all over the room. If you notice, everything has a place. We as tenants are responsible for the plumbing, do not leave clay in the sink. You're responsible for sweeping up the area after trimming your pots.

Covering your work properly will save you much grief. When glazing your pots, be conscious of the mess. Glaze drips can be easily wiped up with a wet sponge. Two minutes to you, saves us hours of mopping per week.

Make every effort to glaze your pots weekly, there are two reasons for this. One, we don't have enough room for stacking weeks of pots for all of our students. Two, if you decide to glaze all at once, you will have to wait a few weeks for all of your pots to be returned. Pots without names on them will be held for 1 week only.

Payment is required at the beginning of each month. Firing fees are .04 cents per cubic inch. That includes both the bisque and glaze firing. We can accumulate the fees for one monthly payment. Clay is $12.00-$13.00 per 25 lb. bag.

NO REFUNDS -

After your first class there will be no refund of payment. We are not part of corporate America. Before joining a class, be sure that you can commit to the 8 weeks. We will not hold any remaining class time for you. Once you leave, your session is over. Regardless of whether you had two or more days left to the session. The wheel is yours as long as you are actively attending class. Missing class time repeatedly and doing make-ups throughout the month is not acceptable. As with any other institution, you pay for the consecutive weeks that you signed up for. No extensions.

ATTENDANCE

Please call your instructor if you are unable (for whatever reason) to attend class. This policy is strictly enforced.  You have one make-up per session. The make-up must be made within your 4  or 8 week session or you can choose to write it off. It is your responsibility to schedule the make-up. Your wheel is reserved on a per session basis and you will be billed on the last class to be paid for the following session.

If you are ending a session, the last class will be used for glazing only. If a new student (completing only one session) decides to trim any remaining pots on their last session, they will be charged $15.00 for glazing instruction when they return to glaze and the firing fee.  Firing will be .04 cents per cubic inch.

Anyone ending their session is responsible for picking up their excess clay, bisque/glazed pots within one week. If you do not call or return, we will discard them. Leftover clay can be taken home or donated to Michelle M.

We welcome you and hope that your experience here will be creative and relaxing. Always feel comfortable to come to us with any questions or concerns you may have.

We hate rules but experience has shown us that without them chaos rules!
