Center for Clay Art - Studio Policies

We wish to keep the studio as clean as possible. You are responsible for cleaning your equipment, work area and returning everything to its proper place. It makes the next person much happier! We as tenants are responsible for the plumbing. Do not leave clay particles in the sink.   After trimming your pots, it is required that you clean up the area of all trimmings with the broom & dust pan.

Payment is required at the beginning date of each 4 week session. Firing fees are 5 cents per cubic inch. Oversized pieces will be charged extra.   The firing fees are posted in the bisque room. You will be charged for your bisque firing, even if you later decide not to glaze it, it cracks or blows up in the kiln. Clay is $15.00 for a 25 lb bag.

Please call your instructor if you are unable (for whatever reason) to attend class. This policy is strictly enforced. You have one make up per session. The make up must be made within your 4 week session or, you can choose to write if off. It is your responsibility to schedule the make up. Make up classes may not include instruction, the studio can be used for wheel practice or glazing.

If you are ending a session, the last class will be used for glazing only. If a new student (completing only one session) decides to trim any remaining pots on their last session, they will be charged $15.00 for glazing instruction when returning to glaze them, and the firing fee. Students enrolled in two or more sessions may return to glaze without the $15.00 fee.

Anyone ending their session is responsible for picking up their excess clay, bisque and fired pots—within one week. If you do not call or return, we will discard them. Leftover clay can be taken home or donated.

We welcome you and hope that your experience here will be creative and relaxing. Always feel comfortable to come to us with any questions or concerns that you may have.
