Ceramic Hand building and Sculpture
We have designed programs to fit the needs of all skill levels, as well as provide onsite instruction. We offer the therapeutic qualities of gently hand building with stoneware clay.
Hand building is one of the greatest pleasures in working with clay. We will show you how to take a simple slab of clay, drape it over, under or within a form. We will also create from coils and cylinders.
Everyone will chose how they would like to complete their piece. Maybe pressing lace, stamping, carving or texturing. The choices are endless. If someone would prefer to sit quietly with a piece of clay and just create a sculpture or something free form, that's ok too.
We will offer choices such as hand built bowls, vases, candle holders or assist people with their own imaginative choice. It’s easy, therapeutic, relaxing and rewarding. After the creation is complete, everyone will pick out a glaze from one of our many color samples. We will return to our studio with the pieces, fire them, glaze them and fire them again. Our stoneware clay is fired to 2260 degrees and it is waterproof, microwave and dishwasher safe.
